© 1962 Ken Facemold painted hairs I

Just one year after his "birth" Ken got a facelift and a new head. The three digits mark is under the chin. The second sculpt has molded hairs, that were painted blonde or brunette. Because Ken 2 didnt have problems with loosing hairs, he was produced until 1968.

Ken with this facemold was sold as single doll, or in sets with Barbie (+ Midge or + Skipper) until 1968. His facial paintings stayed all the same, but he had to endure some body modifications (straight or bendable Legs...). To designate the year of his production is only possible in combination with his body.

Why always Mattel presented in 1962 a second Ken with another modified facemold. The face is nearly the same, but the haircut and paintings differs. The main difference is, the second 1962 head is a bit shorty. So this Ken got the nickname "Shorty"
